I will hire the person who possess the skills and have immense interests in the development of the team, and considers and the team and company's vision as their primary motive looking aside on the monetary benefits for themselves - because nowadays everybody understands that the company's growth and their personal growth is a parallel process and if not it has to be like that.

So after a lot of experimentation, we have this optimized process for recruitment in stages.
Stage 1: Filtering profiles through cv & linkedin profiles
Stage 2: The filtered candidates go through telephonic interview to assess confidence, vocal skills (if the job role requires that)
Stage 3: Selected Candidates come for one-to-one interview. One with the techincal person & one with founder/ co-founder
Stage 4: They are given an assignment based on the job role along with a deadline.
Stage 5: Assignment quality checked. HIRED!!!
I am sure a lot of us would be doing this or the same. The major emphasis although goes on what is the candidates approach during assignment. This additional assignment screening has helped us a lot.
