I've 8mbps connection from Airtel in both home and office. Till date it works out very well in home. It seems very reliable in terms of speed though its little expensive relative to competition. I never observed throttling for any particular website or torrent. Their support is also good.

At home, "Airtel" is the only broadband internet option in Thaltej (Ahmedabad) area. And office, never switched to other option. So, can't tell which is best.

I have tried many ISPs, here is brief report.
BSNL broadband:
I've used at home. It is like made in china, chala to chand tak nahi to sham tak. I was happily using 4mbps for couple of years but then one fine day they locked my speed to 2mbps. I complained many times because I can't pay for 4mbps and get 2mbps speed. This continued for 3 months and BSNL joined my personal list of blacklisted ISP. I canceled not only broadband but also landline from them. I given 3 page cancellation application with my grievance and the lady says who will read it, and simply cancelled connection. They have no intention and motivation to improve.

You broadband:
They promise stars and give you nothing. A 12mbps line would hardly give you 5 mbps that too after month long complains. Often goes down and unreliable. Cancellation procedure was horrible. I had to go to their office and give modem and get docs as no one would come to collect it after cancelling connection. Stay away from this.

Spidigo broadband:
Currently using this at home. I had doubt about the reliability but I have no other option where I live. The service is not so reliable, still I sometimes have 1-2% packet loss continuously which is against TRAI guidelines but they can't fix it. Before it was 5+% which has came down to 1-2% after many complains and replacing modem. Support is not so good, we can say avg. I have 4mbps and yet audio/video calls are not so good. Even skype doesn't work 100% reliably. Don't use if you have wired broadband available in your area.

Airtel broadband:
Best broadband ISP out there. We first got the connection in office and it has been working reliably since over 8 years. Right now we use 8mbps as backup line. Their support and services are excellent. I highly recommend this for broadband. Unfortunately I don't get chance to use at home due to their lack of coverage in my area.

Reliance broadband:
This reminds of dialup days. You still need to login with username and password. You can not have always on connection. We tried in office and speed was miserable. Most annoying thing is billing. You often get false bills and even bill is generated after you close connection. After 5 years, still sometimes I get call from recovery agency for the pending amount of the false bill for non-existent connection despite having final paid up certificate from this company. Couple of my friends got 6 figure(yes I'm not kidding) bills for 256kbps unlimited broadband connection.

Tata indicom broadband:
Unreliable service and bad support. 5mbps connection couldn't handle 25 users when we got this connection at office. IM clients often get disconnected and they blamed our network. Sometimes incorrect bills generated.

Tata indicom leased line:
Bad quality, bad support. Stay away.

Airtel leased line:
We were skeptical about using leased line over copper but the sales guy promised we will get good quality and speed. Promise was false. It was worse than broadband. Our airtel broadband worked more reliable than airtel leased line. The line would often go down and won't come up quickly. After many support calls and no satisfactory solution, we canceled the line. The case would have been different if they installed fiber based connection.

Blazenet leased line:
We didn't hear much about them but our network admin recommended this. After getting frustrated by airtel and tata leased line, we went for 4mbps blazenet leased line. The service and support has been excellent. Currently using 6mbps leased line and very happy with quality. Virtually no downtime. Highly recommended for commercial use.

@r_brahmbhatt how much are you paying for airtel broadband and blazenet leaseline ?

Ruchir Brahmbhatt

@harshcrop , That's something new. Would you mind giving ping results of 1000 packets(that's trai guidelines of less than 1% pkt loss for 1000 pkts in broadband)? Currently I get 1-2% in spidigo. It doesn't look major issue but when you make audio/video calls with client and audio keeps breaking up it is really annoying. How long have you been using it? Is it working reliably and providing good support? I'm considering ditching spidigo if better option is available.

I am using Airtel since 5 years now. Happy with they hardly have downtime. That is the best part. Little annoying while you used all bandwidth allowed for the month. Rest of the things are fine.

I will also recommend YouTele. I was using it for Ahmedbad for my office and they are also good. They take little longer to serve your queries & complains but as far as service and speed they are good.

Using Reliance Broadband connection since 2008. working really good with almost 2-3 complains in a year. And, most of the times issue rise because of their system up-gradation. And every time it has been resolved withing quoted time limit !!!

As @r_brahmbhatt says, we still need to get login to access internet because of security level. Their system must be larger expansion of Cyberoam.

In a broadband connection speed is ultimate concern. I'm using 2mbps plan, and never observe bandwidth below 2048kbps~2mbps. We three people are using single connection with maximum 6 devices connected at a time. Monthly usage is almost 80-90gb. (That's true !!! )

In my surprise, they are providing cheapest broadband plans with the best quality. I pay almost 7800 in a year....!!!! :D

Overall, you can truly experience what broadband connection is!!

Apart of Broadband connection, one can go for Leased Line....
Yes, Blaznet is best for corporates...!!!

Never really gave a thought to this. Seems like a good idea to rethink over this to understand how much time we waste being the reason that Handmade Hope is now an online store.

I have lived in areas which had monopoly of certain ISPs, in fact it was just Airtel. I stayed at two different location in Bangalore and in Pune.

Service was decent, but not excellent. You know, good enough so that you won't fight to get new ISP.

I am using Spidigo as they are only one which provides unlimited bandwidth.. But connectivity and reliability is an Issue. Customer service and Service engineer are nightmare

I am using GTPL, GTPL is best, spidigo is too slower and too many times it goes down so i recommend GTPL dont use spidigo even if they are giving connection for free :-)

Airtel is the BEST.
Tata Broadband use to be the best till 1st Qtr of 2014, but after Tata Docomo came in, they lost some of their good engineering staff, after whcih tataBroadband used to go down frequently, especially the speed reduces during weekends, and downtime issues.

TataDocomo has some good plans, but they are not offered at all places, plus its a shared bandwidth, if you purchase a 10 MBPS connection you may not get that speed all the time.

Whereas with Airtel even though its a shared one, its pretty good.

It all boils down to how fare you are located from their Mux.

Bsnl works at certain places, where the line output does not have any disturbances or interference.
Top List
1. Airtel
2. Tata Indicom
3. BSNL
4. Tata Docomo

GTPL, Youbroadband, Spdido and Reliance are the worst in terms of connectivity uptime and customer service. Never waste your time after it if its a connection for business purpose.

I use speedonline, local broadband provider. I am very happy with it.

My plan is 2Mbps at Rs 750 per month, and I have almost zero downtime and very reliable service.

@SG HIghway, Thaltej, We get service from local internet service provider. Vihaan Telecom. Their rates are way cheaper then other Class A and B. Lease line is around 2500 per MBPS/ month. Service is very good; being small company they treat every customer personally. We are using their service since 15 months now; no downtime so far.

Totally agree with @rajnikantjoshi as Vihaan is best for thaltej area and I also use Airtel for backup which also provides good service. Never go with Reliance and SpidiGo, worst providers I have ever used.
