Haven't hired anyone yet. However I keep connected to other writers in Indore and Ahmedabad. If I get a project which they can do justice to I pass it to them and like wise they pass to me.

I don't like to call people who work with me, employees. Can't we just call them friends or something else? I haven't fired anyone just ask for the seriousness for the project and make them clear about their priorities, those who can't set the project among top priorities will see themselves as loads on this little startup and help us get space for new members to join by leaving the company.

I am open for anyone who want to come back with the aim to give enough priority to the project to push it forward and they know it well. :)

I took almost 70 interviews to select my first employee. I did hiring of circuit designer, and the condition was he must be strong on practical side as well. In this way I targeted only shops(that sells electronics components & robotics items), training institutes and robotics clubs in colleges; I did not approached colleges directly. In this I filtered out my first employee.

Hi Nitish, my interview style is primarily ask them about their travelling and so on to make them comfortable then I start asking real questions related to role and responsibilities for the position. I ask them tough questions as well while noticing their facial expressions to understand the competitive ground and sweet spot of the candidate.

first employee is difficult to hire. In 2007 when I started first company of mine, I didn't had my office ready, it was all messed up. So I asked my Friend Subhash Sen that can he allow me to conduct an interview of few candidates in his office and he given the keys to me for Sunday.
The candidate didn't even ask me if the office was mine or not, so they selected me and I hired them :-)

One interesting thing happened. One of the employee of Subhash sen was also shortlisted candidate, which I didn't realize, later he told me yaar meri office or mere hi employee ka interview :-)

lesson to learn here is, You have to sell your idea and comittment to hire your first employee because no one wants to work with struggling startups unless you tell them the bigger picture. My own brother denied to work with me because I was too new in industry.

I Hired my first employee a person who was doing internship at my firm. From that day, still our policy is same, we give chances for free internship to Bachelor or Masters students from premium institute for one year and after examining their performance during whole year we select them. This approach helps us a lot to get the candidate who have faith in our business model.

My first employee was my juniour...

We felt him trustworthy....

No policy for the first employee... just told him ... will newer make him feel that he is earning less...

Also assured him that on my limitation will allow him to leave ...

Unfortunately.. he got better opportunity...

Now we are hiring with some predefined policies and qualities required for a dedicated work...
